Sun at the Beach

After our visit to Vicksburg we drove down to Long Beach MS.  We met up with our friends the Chatwins and shared the rental house very close to the beach.  The house was really nice and worked out perfectly.  We played on the beach, went to a local food dive and took a shrimping tour.  Benson loved the beach the first time we went there it was chilly so I was not going to let him in the water but he decided otherwise and was freezing with purple lips but would just keep going back in.  The second time we went the weather was warmer so he really got into playing in the water.  The place we went to eat was called Darwell's cafe.  We sat outside and listened to a live band it was a fun atmosphere with mediocre food.  The shrimping tour was really fun.  I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was.  They took us out just trolling along pulling a net and talking all about shrimping and then half way through the trip they pull in the nets and show you what they caught and talk about all of that and all the places to go get good fresh seafood.  Along the boat as well there were dolphins following us so it was fun to watch them.  After they had talked up the seafood so much all of us non seafood lovers decided that we had never had fresh seafood so we should at least give it a try.  So we went down to Aunt Jenny's and ordered some fried shrimp and some shrimp creole.  It was better than any seafood that I have ever tried but it was still not my favorite.  Benson seemed to like it and Bret agreed it was better than anything he had before.  I was not ready to leave this fun place.  I was so glad that we went!

Vicksburg Mississippi

Our first stop of our vacation was to Vicksburg, MS to see the National Military Park.  We watched a twenty min. video about the history and then drove throughout the park to see over 1300 monuments. We were by far the youngest in our group I think everyone else got the senior citizen discount.  It took us over 2 hrs. to explore the place and there was a lot of cool stuff to see and it was really pretty as well. It was raining a little bit the whole time but we didn't mind.

The next morning we toured the town and stopped in at the Coca-Cola museum.  It was where they first bottled coke.  It was a cute little museum with memorabilia and pictures of how it used to be.  I was telling Bret that it must have been fun to get all dressed up and go into town to just get a coke and sit up to the bar.

Finally done with Finals

Action shot.....haha
Bret finished taking his last final for all of his schooling!! I was so very excited for him.  He still has boards to pass but no more finals or classes.  He dressed up for the special occasion and headed out with a good luck hug from Benson.  When he came home Benson and I were in the bedroom and I ran out excitedly and was praising him and Benson followed suite running and clapping.  It was so cute he had no idea what was going on but he was excited to see his daddy! Then of course they needed some manly play time so some of his friends got together and played some Zombies.

The next day we had a family celebration and went bowling with friends and their kids.  Benson had fun bowling and of course eating with friends.
